3Commas Review 2026 — Is the Subscription Worth It?

Score: 4.2/5. 3Commas is the best DCA bot platform for multi-exchange traders managing $5K+ portfolios — with best-in-class DCA configuration, TradingView signal routing, and full futures support on Bybit and Binance. The limitation: at $29–$99/mo, it's uneconomical under $2K. Founded 2017, 220,000+ users, API-only and non-custodial.

3Commas 2026 review — DCA bot, Grid, TradingView signals and pricing by Ron Nguyen

Overview

What Is 3Commas?

3Commas connects to 15+ exchanges via read+trade API and runs DCA, Grid, and Signal bots 24/7 from the cloud — without ever holding your funds. Your crypto stays on Binance, Bybit, OKX, or wherever you already trade.

Supported exchanges: Binance, Bybit, OKX, Coinbase, Kraken, KuCoin, Gate.io, HTX, Bitget, and 6+ more. All bots run on 3Commas cloud servers — you grant a trade-only API key. Funds never leave your exchange. This is 3Commas's biggest structural advantage over platforms that require fund deposits.

Best Feature

DCA Bot — Best Feature

The DCA bot is 3Commas's standout. Best-in-class configuration: safety orders, deviation %, volume scale, multi-pair runs (BTC + ETH + SOL simultaneously). No other bot platform gives you this level of control over how your average entry is built in a downtrend.

How It Works

Base order opens the position. Safety orders (SOs) fire on configurable price drops — you define how many, how far apart, and how much bigger each one gets (volume multiplier). The bot closes everything at your TP%.

30-day test, March 2026 (BTC/USDT, $500 allocation): +4.1% in one ranging period. Not guaranteed — this was one favourable period. In a straight-down trend, DCA bots accumulate unrealised losses fast.

Important Warning

DCA bots are long-biased by default — they buy more on the way down. Only deploy on assets you're comfortable holding: BTC, ETH, SOL. Never run DCA on low-cap altcoins — one bad drawdown and the bot is trapped in a dead position.

Bot Types

Grid Bot

The Grid bot profits in sideways markets by placing buy/sell orders at regular price intervals. It works — but you have to get the spacing right. My real test showed that 0.3% grid spacing let fees eat 60%+ of profit on Binance spot. Set spacing ≥0.8% minimum.

Verdict: 3Commas grid is solid, especially for users already paying for DCA bots. But Bitsgap's grid is more powerful for serious grid-only use. If grid trading is your primary strategy, Bitsgap is the better specialist. If you need grid as a secondary strategy alongside DCA, 3Commas covers you.

TradingView Integration

Signal Bot + TradingView

Signal Bot is 3Commas's strongest differentiator for technical traders. It routes Pine Script alerts from TradingView directly into live Bybit or Binance orders — long, short, with leverage, TP, and SL. No Pionex equivalent. No Cryptohopper equivalent at this granularity.

How Signal Bot Works

TradingView alert fires → webhook hits 3Commas → bot opens long or short with leverage, TP %, and SL % preset. Run long and short bots simultaneously on the same signal source. Requires Advanced+ plan ($49/mo or higher).

Real User Feedback (G2 2026)

“Signal bot setup feels obtuse — took me 3 hours to get TradingView webhooks configured correctly.” — G2 user review, 2026.

This matches my experience. Signal Bot is powerful but not beginner-friendly. Best for traders who already have a working Pine Script strategy and want to automate execution. If you're still building your strategy, start with DCA bots.

Manual Trading Tool

SmartTrade Terminal

SmartTrade is advanced manual order management: trailing stops, multi-target TPs, and conditional closes across all connected exchanges from a single interface. It's for discretionary traders who want better risk management without full bot automation.

3Commas SmartTrade terminal — trailing stops and multi-target take profit

SmartTrade Strengths

  • Trailing stop loss — locks profit as price rises
  • Multi-target TP — take partial profits at price levels
  • Works across all 15+ exchanges simultaneously
  • Free plan: 3 SmartTrades included

Known Limitations

  • Binance execution delays at peak load (G2 2026)
  • UI complexity — steeper learning than exchange native orders
  • Not a bot — still requires manual trigger
  • Free plan limited to 3 concurrent SmartTrades

Plans & Costs

Pricing 2026

Advanced (~$49/mo) is the best value tier for most active traders. Annual billing saves 30–50% depending on the plan. Free is useful for testing — but not for real trading at scale.

★ Advanced (~$49/mo) is the sweet spot. 50 DCA bots, 50 signal bots, 10 backtests/mo. Annual billing typically cuts this to ~$29–35 effective monthly. Start with the 14-day Pro trial to test everything before committing.

Security

Security — 2022 Breach and Current Status

3Commas is non-custodial and API-only — but in November 2022, a phishing site harvested 3,649 API keys, leading to unauthorized trades on victim accounts. Security has been significantly hardened since. No further breach reported through April 2026.

2022 Breach — What Happened

Attackers cloned the 3Commas login page. Users who entered credentials on the fake site had their API keys stolen — attackers then used those keys to execute unauthorized market trades (not withdrawals — exchange funds couldn't be taken directly via trade-only APIs, but positions were deliberately wrecked).

3Commas response: Mandatory IP whitelisting for all API keys, 2FA enforcement, new security dashboard, breach transparency report.

Current Security Rules (Non-Negotiable)

  • Trade-only API — never grant withdrawal permissions. Ever.
  • IP whitelist your 3Commas API key to 3Commas server IP range only
  • Use a dedicated Bybit/Binance sub-account for bot capital
  • Enable 2FA on both 3Commas and your exchange accounts
  • Never enter 3Commas credentials on any site reached via search ad

Real Reviews

Real User Feedback

DCA flexibility and multi-exchange control get consistent praise. Subscription cost and mobile UX are the main complaints — consistent across G2 2026 reviews and CryptoCompare (4.1–4.3/5).

Consistently Praised (G2 2026)

  • "Full DCA control over safety orders, TP%, and trailing — nothing else comes close for configuration depth."
  • "Manages my Binance, OKX, and KuCoin bots from one dashboard. Game-changer for multi-exchange traders."
  • "TradingView signal bot turned my Pine Script strategy into a fully automated system in one afternoon."

Consistently Criticized (G2 2026)

  • "Pro plan fees are hard to justify at low volume — $99/mo when you're managing $2K is just not sustainable."
  • "Mobile app is functional but clearly desktop-first. Complex DCA configs are painful on small screens."
  • "Signal bot setup is obtuse — took 3 hours to get TradingView webhooks working correctly."

Summary

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Best-in-class DCA bot configuration
  • 15+ exchanges via API — funds stay on your exchange
  • TradingView signal bridge (unique at this depth)
  • Non-custodial — never holds your crypto
  • 14-day Pro trial — test everything before paying
  • Full backtesting on Advanced/Pro plans

Cons

  • Uneconomical under $2K — subscription eats returns
  • 15+ configurable parameters — steep learning curve
  • 2022 phishing breach history — requires careful security setup
  • Mobile UX weaker than web interface
  • Signal bot setup is complex for non-Pine Script users

Ron's Verdict

Verdict — 4.2/5

3Commas earns 4.2/5 — it's the best bot platform for active multi-exchange traders with $5K+ portfolios who want precision DCA automation, TradingView signal execution, or futures bot control on Bybit and Binance. It's the wrong tool for small accounts, set-and-forget users, or copy trading focus.

Use 3Commas If

  • $5K+ portfolio across Bybit/Binance/OKX
  • Already using TradingView for signals
  • Need multi-pair DCA on multiple exchanges
  • Running futures bots on Bybit USDT perps
  • Want trade automation without moving funds

Skip 3Commas If

  • Under $2K — Pionex free bots make more sense
  • Want simple set-and-forget (no config depth needed)
  • Copy trading focus → try Bitget Copy or BingX
  • Grid-only strategy → Bitsgap or Pionex free grid
  • Don't want to learn Pine Script / bot parameters

FAQ

The four questions I get asked most about 3Commas.

3Commas is API-only and non-custodial — it never holds your crypto. Your funds stay on Binance, Bybit, OKX, or whatever exchange you trade on. In November 2022, a phishing site harvested 3,649 API keys leading to unauthorized trades. 3Commas responded with mandatory IP whitelisting, enforced 2FA, and a security dashboard. No breach has been reported since. The rules: use trade-only API keys (never grant withdrawal permissions), whitelist the 3Commas server IP range, and use a dedicated sub-account with only the capital you intend to bot-trade.

Risk Disclaimer — Automated crypto trading involves significant risk of loss. Bot performance is highly dependent on market conditions and configuration — my 30-day test result (+4.1%) is one data point, not a guarantee. Futures bots amplify losses through leverage.
